our story

Orijin was born from something real.

It began at The Boro, the bakery at The Dixboro Project, where Chef Jin quietly built a cult following through artistry, and an uncompromising commitment to craft. Her croissants - precise, layered, and deeply expressive; along with her cakes, tarts, and pastries, quickly became known as some of the finest in the region. Not through marketing, but through experience.

People came. Then they kept coming. Then they lined up.

What started as a destination in the countryside became something bigger than the space could hold.

Bringing the soul of The Boro into downtown Ann Arbor, Orijin is where country craft meets urban energy. The space is open and airy, with high ceilings and a clean, modern feel, designed to contrast and highlight the warmth and precision of what we make by hand, every day.

This is not a departure from our roots, but an extension of them.

At Orijin, everything begins the same way it always has - with intention, technique, and a deep respect for the process. What you’ll find here are the same world-class pastries, now woven into the rhythm of the city: accessible, alive, and still made with the same care that built the lines in the first place.

Orijin isn’t just where we’ve gone. It’s where we began.
